Capturing the mystical flavours of Asia, EEST offers an endless array of dishes that focus on authentic flavours and recipes from Japan, Thailand & China. Standing for Elegance, Exist, Serene and Triumph, EEST represents the basic life elements creating a new culinary world and experience. Visually striking, the elegant restaurant features an impressive repertoire of Japanese national Chef Hashimoto to add authenticity. An incredible use of traditional ingredients and methods add value and taste to the cuisines served.
About 25 minutes from the New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport, EEST is located on the first floor of The Westin Gurgaon, New Delhi. The design and décor of the restaurant include a vast amount of glass work, making it a bright, airy restaurant for lunch and delightful moonlit space for dinner. The various Asian influences in the design and décor of the restaurant are the main feature. The eclectic selections carefully blended and combined with a number of live cooking stations and food display tables ensure the venue to be a visual treat. The décor, which allows for a intimate and extremely personal experience, ensures everyone leaving the restaurant goes with a story. An array of bottles consisting of the different oils and their foundation is on display giving an opportunity for one to discover the history of the food served.
The menu at EEST is a melting pot of flavours offering a multitude of cuisines from distinct Asian cultures. The Ped Ob Makham, consisting of a crispy fried duck, is one of the spectacular highlights of this Asian restaurant. Served with chilli and tamarind sauce, this duck dish is an absolute marvel. With each succulent bite, one can experience the richness of the meat. The sauces used further add to the essence of the cuisine. Another favourite of mine was the Zensai Sushi Shashimi. An assorted plate of sushi sashimi was just what my heart ordered. A visual delight, the sushi on our plates ranged from amberjack and salmon to scallop and even mackerel. Add a tinge of wasabi, though I must warn you to refrain from it if you can&rsquot handle an outburst of spice, into the mix to bring a surge in the latent flavours.
With such an enigmatic menu to choose from, picking out which dish to have can be an overwhelming challenge. If you have come to EEST, then you have to have come with an appetite for authentic Asian cuisine and nothing is more true to Asia than dumplings. From the mind-boggling of options, I personally recommend the Ji Rou Shao Mai, the steamed siew mai chicken dumplings. Served with soya sauce, the traditional Chinese delight will take you to the gates of paradise. Dip your dumpling into the sauce and take an uncharacteristically large bite, and let the chicken meat melt in your mouth. Perfectly cooked to the core, I guarantee that your plate will empty in no time.
End your fabulous experience here with the chocolate dumplings for dessert. Though it sounds a bit odd, this is a standout performer of this Pan-Asian restaurant. The chocolate filling is perfect and offers a sweet reprieve from the swashbuckling mashup of flavours that the other dishes served here present.
