Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh is set to host dance performers from all across India and abroad for the famed Khajuraho Dance Festival. The city is rich with folklore and ancient enchanting temples. This annual festival is conducted to preserve and promote Khajuraho's culture and heritage while providing world-class artists with a platform to exhibit their art. There will be classical as well as modern dance forms showcased.

Dance Into The Night

The delightful performances by classical dancers who perform to large crowds take place in an open auditorium in front of the magnificently lit Chitragupta temple, dedicated to the sun god, and the Vishwanath temple, of the god Shiva. Various dance forms, such as kathak, bharatnatyam, kuchipudi, manipuri, etc., are performed.

More Than Just Dance

The six-day event comprises various programmes such as Kala Varta, a face-to-face discussion between artists, Hunar, an exposition of traditional art, and Chal Chitr, a screening event of films on Indian classical art, dance, and heritage.

Art Of Handicraft

Even though it is centralised around dance and renowned performers, there are displays of handicrafts also. The Art Mart is an open programme where several artisans from across the country, and foreign lands, gather to showcase their art and sell it.

Discover Khajuraho

You can go for a village tour of Old Khajuraho Village or a Heritage run around the city. There is also a walk through the Ghariyal Sanctuary, which is 25 kilometres outside the central city. Treat yourself to street foods such as dal bafla (lentil-based baked dish), bhajiya (vegetable fritters), etc. which are integral to Khajuraho culture.
