Disney Cruise Line has long been connected to opulent family vacations thanks to its special fusion of the excitement of ocean sailing with the magic of Disney storytelling. Since its founding in 1998, Disney Cruise Line has consistently given families worldwide fantastic vacation experiences.
Now, Disney is expanding its reach with the launch of the Disney Adventure, the first ship in its fleet to make its homeport in Asia. In 2025, it will leave Singapore. Sarah Fox, the vice president and regional general manager of Asia for Disney Cruise Line, came forth with the cruise idea because Singapore stands at the crossroads of Asia with its strong flight connectivity and excellent port infrastructure.
"It was an obvious choice as the island country's location brings Disney Cruise Line closer to guests in the region, offering something unique for families in places like India. This brand-new cruise ship, which centres around the Disney Imagination Garden, offers an amazing experience with multiple themed zones, first-rate entertainment, and excellent dining," she said.
The Disney Imagination Garden, an immersive outdoor wonderland that brings well-known Disney tales to life, is located in the heart of the cruise. The Imagination Garden, with its vibrant landscapes, flowering vines, blooming flowers, and sculptural topiaries evoke a world straight out of a storybook. It was inspired by Disney's rich storytelling legacy. In addition, a three-decker castle represents the centrepiece of Disney's storytelling tradition at one end of the structure, while a Garden Stage, a cutting-edge performance space that offers nonstop entertainment, is anchored at the other.
A mystical promenade that provides chances for interaction with well-known Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters awaits families exploring the Disney Imagination Garden. The attention to detail makes the place seem like it's from a pop-up book, whether you're strolling beneath lantern-adorned arches or taking in the cut-out-style trees.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Disney Imagination Garden is the Garden Stage, which features a full schedule of live entertainment every day. The stage will host events like the vibrant Avengers Assemble!, complete with three deck-high LED screens and cutting-edge special effects. At the idea of the stage, Lloyd Machado, the Director of Hotel for New Build & Dry Dock Operations at Disney Cruise Line, recalled his days watching a show with now nineteen-year-old daughter who was 6 at the time. “Both of us were relating to the stories but actually relating to our relationship together too. So it's truly engaging everyone of different ages in a different way of storytelling,” he says. In this highly anticipated series, well-known Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Deadpool will face off against venerable villains like Red Skull and Loki.
Families can always enjoy the action of these performances from the amphitheatre-style seating at the top of the grand staircase or from the lawn seating area in front of the stage. What’s more curious, according to Fox, is that the ship is built for multi-generational families, where everyone has something to look forward to.
The Garden Stage will feature character appearances, interactive games, and other magical surprises in addition to major shows. Nothing about this magical place is boring, whether it's meeting Mickey Mouse or seeing Goofy put on an unexpected show.
Two themed quick-service dining options are available at the Disney Adventure, keeping with the company's tradition of immersive storytelling. Drawing inspiration from Disney's The Jungle Book, Mowgli's Eatery serves Indian food with a Disney-inspired vegetarian and regional specialisation menu. Diners can choose from indoor and outdoor seating options with views of the Garden Stage while dining in an environment influenced by early concept art from the movie.
On the subject of Indian passengers and what they can look forward to on this cruise, the Disney officials had much to say. “We’ve tailored certain aspects specifically for the Indian market, like dietary considerations and merchandise. But beyond that, the proximity of this experience is significant. The Indian outbound tourism market is growing, and families are looking for unique experiences, which is exactly what Disney Cruise Line offers,” both Fox and Machado explained.
Speaking about dining, Machado said, “It is unique as each night not only do guests dine in a different themed restaurant, but the same serving team follows them throughout the journey.” So, if you like your Coke with one cube of ice, he continued, the serving team tends to remember it the next day. “It’s a magical, personalised experience that connects our crew with our guests, making it feel even more special,” he added.
For those who prefer a more tropical touch, Gramma Tala's Kitchen draws inspiration from Disney's Moana. The restaurant pays homage to the vibrant Pacific Islands with its décor and inventive menu, which showcases the diversity of flavours found throughout Asia and the Pacific. Enjoying a quick snack or a full meal, dining experiences onboard Disney Adventure ensure that guests never miss a moment of magic.
The Garden View Stateroom is a brand-new type of lodging available on The Disney Adventure. With balconies overlooking the Disney Imagination Garden, these rooms offer guests a picturesque haven with a prime location to witness all the excitement taking place in the ship's central hub.
The Disney Adventure provides concierge-level accommodations with special features like a private indoor lounge and a large sundeck with shaded pools and whirlpools for those looking for a more opulent stay. Additionally, first-rate spa and fitness facilities are available to concierge guests, enabling them to relax in classic Disney fashion.
Disney Adventure will start serving families in Asia with 3 or 4-night cruises from Singapore starting in 2025. These cruises will only consist of "Days at Sea," which will let guests take full advantage of everything the ship has to offer without ever having to get off the ship. With its partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, Disney Cruise Line embarks on a new journey, bringing its legendary magic to an entirely new area.
With accommodations ranging from staterooms with views of the ocean to concierge suites with extra luxury, the ship is designed with families in mind. The Disney Adventure has everything visitors could want, whether they're searching for a busy adventure or a calm getaway.
Asked what sections of the ship lights up the eyes of the Disney officials, they had an instant response. For Machado, who has also been engaged with the construction of the ship from scratch, the Wayfinder Bay is the most inviting part of the ship. “I love to relax, and it’s the perfect spot for guests to sit back and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean,” he said. For Fox it is the the entertainment on board the ship. She said, “Our stage shows are on par with Broadway and West End performances. Every evening, there’s something new for the guests, and I love how we keep pushing the envelope with our productions.”
