Meanwhile, the exterior of the Murphy house was filmed just across the street at 656 Lincoln Avenue. Interestingly, certain interior scenes of the McCallister home, such as the main staircase, basement, attic, and first floor, were also filmed within the same house used for the exteriors, contributing to the seamless portrayal in the final production. While you can not enter the house, you can surely take a stroll outside along the street.

The movie "Home Alone" featured several airport scenes that were filmed in Chicago, but only one actually shot there, specifically at O'Hare International Airport. The airport served as the backdrop for the movie's Chicago and Paris scenes. The filming process at O'Hare was intense, taking place over four long days, each day lasting 16 hours. Actor John Candy played a memorable cameo role as Kate McCallister's polka-singing hero, and his scenes were filmed in just one day on the airstrip of Meigs Field.
