Treat Yourself To A Powerful Play

"नज़र के सामने (Before Your Eyes)" is a compelling performance that explores the collective experiences of bodies enduring caste and sexual violence. Co-devised by Freeda and Maraa, a Bengaluru-based media and arts collective, the piece is crafted from personal narratives rich with unfulfilled desires, confessions, secrets, and dreams. This evocative performance examines themes of identity, freedom, and justice, journeying through childhood to womanhood while revealing the beauty and violence inherent in everyday life. By focusing on the body—often overlooked in discussions surrounding sexual violence—the performance delves into the complexities of memory, justice, and desire. "नज़र के सामने" stands in solidarity with survivors of violence, amplifying their unheard stories and showcasing the transformative power of the arts for fostering cross-caste-class solidarity through collaborative creation. Freeda, an inter-generational group of women from Madhya Pradesh, leads this initiative to create a space for dignity, freedom, and self-representation for women from marginalised communities.

Dates: 19 October, 11:45 am

Venue: Sunder Nursery, Delhi

Address: Bharat Scouts and Guides Marg, Opposite Humayun Tomb Park, Nizamuddin, National Zoological Park, Sundar Nagar, New Delhi, Delhi 110013, India
