Located on the outskirts of Delhi, just off the Ballabhgarh-Sohna Highway, lies a serene natural water body known as Panikot Lake. The lake is surrounded by the majestic hills of the Aravalli Range and remains untouched by human hands. It has recently earned the moniker of "Mini Ladakh," owing to its clear water and rocky, barren terrain. The nearest village, Alampur, is a 45-minute hike away from the lake, but it can also be reached from the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road near Manger village. The place has become famous for its pristine clear water, abundant bird life, and peaceful and elegant surroundings.

Panikot Lake, also known as "Goa near Delhi," "Pangong Lake near Delhi," or "Mini Ladakh near Delhi," is a hidden gem surrounded by the Aravalli hills. It has earned the nickname "Pangong" due to its resemblance to Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh. This pristine lake is a decent offbeat weekend getaway from Delhi, providing a tranquil escape for tourists and locals alike. Although it may not always have crystal-clear waters due to dust and human activities, the calm moments allow the sediments to settle, revealing a close-to-crystal-clear state.
Located in a village setting, Panikot Lake serves as a natural retreat, offering a perfect respite from the routine hustle and bustle of daily life. The lake is frequently visited by local villagers for their everyday activities, adding to the authentic atmosphere of the place. You can witness village kids playing and women engaging in various tasks, creating a charming and picturesque destination.
Visiting the lake in groups is advisable as it's relatively deserted. Visitors must stick to areas where other visitors are present, and remember to bring a mat or a thick rug if you wish to picnic around the area. Although swimming is prohibited, the stunning views and serene ambience make it worth a visit.
Panikot Lake is near Faridabad and conveniently accessible from Delhi within one and a half hours. The lake is situated in Sirohi village of the Faridabad district in Haryana, along the Ballabhgarh–Sohna road. Travellers from Gurugram will need to drive for a little over an hour to reach the lake, 36 km away, while those travelling from Delhi, 57 km away, will have to drive for almost an hour and a half.
Bairat, the capital of Matsyadesa, was founded by King Virat. The Pandavas spent their 13th year in disguise here. The site has many ancient artefacts of historical value, including the Bairat Temple and two of Ashoka's Minor Rock Edicts. Bairat is home to the earliest circular Buddhist shrine, just 216 km from Delhi. Drive there to explore this hidden gem and discover its historical significance.
To reach Bairat or Viratnagar, fly to Jaipur (104 km) or take a train to Alwar (61 km) or Jaipur (103 km). Delhi-Jaipur Expressway is the best road option. Viratnagar lies on the Delhi-Alwar highway and can be easily accessed from major cities.
Explore the charming village of Dausa, nestled near Jaipur, a short four-hour ride from Delhi. It is famous for its captivating stepwell, featured as the iconic "Pit" in Nolan's, "The Dark Knight Rises." If you want an ideal weekend getaway from Delhi, Dausa can be quite rewarding. To reach Dausa, fly to Jaipur (53 km) or take a train to Dausa Railway Station. You can also hit the road which is a stretch of just 255 km.
Morni, the only hill station in Haryana, a four-hour drive from Delhi, attracts visitors with its unexplored charm and 580 bird species. The region was ruled by various dynasties with its history dating back to the 14th century. Visitors can explore Gurudwara Nada Sahib, trek to Karoh Peak for panoramic views, or enjoy the serene Tikkar Taal. The Thakur Dwar Temple showcases stunning architecture and stone carvings.
To reach Morni, fly to Chandigarh International Airport (52 km) or take a train to Chandigarh Railway Station (41 km). Delhi-Jaipur Expressway is the best road option. You can also take the GT Karnal Highway from Delhi to reach Morni.
