Located in Dover Lane in South Kolkata, this puja has garnered a reputation for having some of the most exciting themes. This year, the pandal stands out due to its amazing architectural details through a structure built of bamboo. The idol's artistic brilliance is a crowd-puller, drawing visitors to its impressive displays and the serene yet festive atmosphere.
Ekdalia Evergreen, situated in the bustling Gariahat area of Kolkata, is widely recognised for its elaborate traditional decor and unparalleled artistic expertise. This iconic pandal has been a cornerstone of Kolkata's Durga Puja celebrations for many decades, drawing in visitors with its enduring themes. As Ekdalia celebrates its 82nd anniversary this year, it proudly showcases a majestic Jagannath Mandir created with a commitment to traditional craftsmanship.
Situated in New Alipore, Suruchi Sangha is renowned for its exceptional thematic displays and commitment to environmental awareness. This year, the popular puja is marking its 71st year. The theme for 2024 aims to urge people to value their traditions while embracing new technologies. The organisers emphasised that items once cherished are now discarded due to technological advancements. Various parts of vehicles, fishing nets, oil tins, and paint containers have been utilised to create the theme. Discarded articles, usually sold as junk, including those sold to scrap dealers, have been repurposed for the pandal.
The pandal in the Hindustan Park neighbourhood is widely celebrated for its inventive themes and elaborate artistic embellishments. Visitors are consistently astounded by the remarkable creativity on display. This year, the focus is centred around the iconic hand-pulled rickshaws of Kolkata, with multiple rickshaws delicately positioned on a meandering path ascending from the ground. Furthermore, the pandal features a stunning showcase of colourful rickshaw art.
Tridhara Sammilani, located on Monoharpukur Road in south Kolkata, has gained a reputation for its innovative and imaginative themes during the Durga Puja celebrations. This year, as the organisation celebrates its 78th year, the Tridhara puja embraces the theme "Angan," which beautifully depicts the Indian courtyard as a powerful symbol of familial bonds and cultural traditions. Notably, Tridhara Sammilani stands out as the only club that has consistently published a Puja special magazine for the past 10 years, further showcasing its commitment to promoting and preserving the festival's spirit.
