Artist and filmmaker Muzaffar Ali's exhibition at the CCA building in Bikaner House, Delhi, celebrates his passion for art with a collection spanning four decades, featuring sketches, new canvases, and bronzes centred around his beloved subject—the horse. Ali's work represents a unique fusion of cinema and painting, exploring both the cinematic landscape of film and the tactile experience of painting. Known for his Sufi philosophy, he embodies a universal connection between nature and humanity in his creations. The exhibition, sensitively curated by art historian Uma Nair, is organised thematically to illustrate the interplay between his mind's artistic and cinematic aspects. It opens with sketches of horses and Rumi, his favourite muse, and progresses to portraits of Zooni, a legendary figure from Kashmir, reflecting the artist's contemplative journey akin to an unfinished poem.
