This hilltop location, which overlooks the sparkling Bay of Bengal, provides an intriguing view of the Buddhist history of this region. The location once housed Buddhist scholars and monks and has a meditation hall, viharas (monastic cells), and stupas.

Thotlakonda is more than just a historical landmark because of the expansive views from the top, which enrich the spiritual ambience. It is a serene location where spirituality, nature, and history come together. Because of the site's relative silence, visitors can take their time exploring the old ruins.

About 90 kilometres from Vizag, the Borra Caves are a natural wonder that adventure seekers should not miss. Beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations can be found in these over-a-million-year-old limestone caves. The Borra Caves, one of the biggest in India, were discovered in 1807 and offer a breathtaking underground experience.

Rock formations that resemble various creatures and figures—some of which have been treasured by the local tribes—will be visible as you navigate the artificially lit tunnels. The Araku Valley's gorgeous scenery adds to the mysticism of the caverns, making it the perfect place for anybody interested in geology and the natural world.

Timing: 10 am – 1 pm, 2 pm – 5 pm

Tips: The nearby Araku Valley is perfect for a day trip, so plan to explore both the caves and the valley for a complete experience. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the cave floor can be slippery in places.
