India to Boost Tourism around Lighthouses

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal aims to attract 25 lakh tourists to India's lighthouses over the next five years, transforming them into vibrant tourist spots. He highlighted the increase in lighthouse tourism since 2014 and emphasized the need to develop all 203 lighthouses with new attractions and enhanced visitor facilities.

Jakhau Lighthouse, Gujarat

This lighthouse station was established in 1957 to support the development of large salt pans in Jakhau. The port of Jakhau was also upgraded to export raw salt to Japan, Korea, and other countries.
