Monsoon arrives in Lakshadweep in June and lasts until August. The islands receive high rainfall which literally makes it a “cool” destination. Check out the architectural sights of Kalpeni Island and go canoeing at Minicoy Island.
Alleppey experiences monsoons between June and September which makes staying in traditional houseboats during this time a treat. Cruise through the backwaters and wonder at the architecture of the Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple.
Also known as Cherrapunjee, July is a less popular time to visit Sohra which means fewer tourists at its scenic waterfalls, amazing caves and living root bridges. The weather is usually very warm with a gentle breeze during this time.
This hill station is best experienced during the monsoon months of June to September. Lonavala turns exceptionally beautiful with lush greenery at this time so visitors can take advantage of trips to the Karla Caves, boat rides on Tungarli Lake and sunset views from Lion’s Point.

Agumbe is a gem during the monsoon season with its combination of natural beauty, biodiversity and cultural charm. Trek to Kundadri Hill to see Barkana Falls, take photographs of the Malabar giant squirrel and go on an eco-tour with the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station.
The monsoon season of July to September rejuvenates Majuli and transforms it into a lush green paradise. Stay in a bamboo hut, check out the island on a cycle, buy its traditional masks and drink the rice beer of the Mising tribe.
