Mumbai's iconic restaurant, The Bombay Canteen, has been named the Best Indian Restaurant in the country at the prestigious World Culinary Awards. Since its launch in 2015, the restaurant has earned acclaim for redefining Indian cuisine, blending traditional flavours with modern creativity.

The World Culinary Awards are decided by a combination of public votes and expert nominations, ensuring that winners represent the highest level of culinary achievement. Competing against top restaurants such as Indian Accent, Masque, and Masala Library, The Bombay Canteen emerged victorious, marking a significant achievement in India's food industry.

Founded by the late Chef Floyd Cardoz alongside Yash Bhanage, Sameer Seth, and Thomas Zacharias (who was succeeded by Chef Hussain Shazad), The Bombay Canteen was envisioned to celebrate India’s rich regional flavours. With a focus on locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce, the restaurant aims to offer a meal and a cultural experience.

The Bombay Canteen is committed to reimagining Indian classics using indigenous ingredients and age-old cooking techniques. Dishes like chilled sea bass sev puri and Coffee Rasaglia Sundae reflect the restaurant’s innovative take on traditional flavours. The rotating menu, driven by the “Canteen Calendar,” showcases the freshest seasonal produce, ensuring a dynamic dining experience throughout the year.
