A fine dining restaurant has opened in a refurbished train coach to take customers’ taste buds for a flavourful ride.
Capital Diner is a first-of-its-kind restaurant in New Delhi pledges to deliver a one-of-a-kind fusion of history, atmosphere and culinary excellence, catering to both travellers and locals alike.
By repurposing a vintage railway coach into a contemporary yet nostalgic eatery, Capital Diner blends the allure of classic American diners with the opulence of bygone train voyages. Transforming a retired Indian Railways coach car into its core structure pays homage to the romantic allure of train travel. The interior features a modern and minimal bohemian vibe which seamlessly integrates contemporary and traditional design elements, complemented by beige LED lighting strips to evoke a starry atmosphere.
Inside, guests are greeted by brown vertical stripe wallpaper reminiscent of the iconic Orient Express, a suede booth for comfortable seating, and stylish mosaic tiling which adds texture and visual intrigue. Plants are situated at each end of the coach to bring a refreshing touch of nature.
The menu at Capital Diner showcases diverse culinary traditions. From classic Indian delicacies like kadhai paneer with naan to international favourites like creamy tomato pasta with chicken, the chefs have curated a menu guaranteed to please even the most discerning customer.
The owners hope to attract travellers departing from and arriving at New Delhi Railway Station, residents and office workers for what promises to be a distinctive dining experience.
Those interested in eating at Capital Diner will find the unique restaurant near Ajmeri Gate, New Delhi Railway Station. The diner is open around the clock, seven days a week. A meal for two costs around INR 500.
