Sikkim Becomes The Coolest Place In Asia To Visit In 2024

Travel enthusiasts in India have something exciting to look forward to. An American pay television network recently published a list of the top 30 coolest destinations to visit in 2024, and Sikkim, a state in North-East India, has topped the chart under the banner of Asia. It's the only destination from India to feature on the list. The ranking criteria include connectivity, ease of travel, public safety, and cleanliness, among others.

Travellers would be glad to know that direct flights from Delhi and Kolkata to Sikkim will resume from 2023 onwards. While visiting Sikkim, there are endless possibilities for travellers to explore and indulge in.

Getting There

You can reach Sikkim primarily by air or road. The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, followed by a scenic 4-5 hour drive to Sikkim's capital, Gangtok. Alternatively, the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station connects to major Indian cities with shared taxis or private cabs to Sikkim. The road journey, though longer, unveils breathtaking vistas. Entry to Sikkim requires obtaining an Inner Line Permit available online or at entry points.
