Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on March 6, virtually inaugurated the priority corridor of the Agra Metro Rail Project. The project aims to connect the UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city, including the iconic Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Sikandra Tomb, catering to the needs of both locals and tourists.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the Agra Metro from the Taj Mahal Metro Station, symbolising a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and accessibility to the city's historical gems.

The Agra Metro services are set to commence for the general public on March 7. According to reports, the first corridor of Agra Metro comprises 14 stations, with construction completed for six stations of the Priority Corridor. Among them are the Taj East Gate, Captain Shubham Gupta, and Fatehabad Road metro stations, which stand elevated. In contrast, the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Mankameshwar metro stations are underground.

What To Expect?

Beginning March 7, Agra Metro trains will operate between these six stations, offering a fare ranging from INR 10 to Rs 30 per passenger. The metro services will be operational from 6 am to 10 pm, providing convenient and affordable travel options for the public.

To ensure security, 28 CCTV cameras have been strategically installed at each station, and the responsibility for station security has been entrusted to the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF), with approximately 150 personnel deployed across all stations.

Highlighting the local culture, craftsmanship from Agra has found a place at the metro stations, with vibrant paintings adorning the spaces. Additionally, selfie points have been strategically created, adding a touch of local flair to the Agra Metro experience.
