A new 36-kilometer road has been completed, significantly reducing the travel time between Assam and Meghalaya. Constructed by Badri Rai And Company (BRC) at a cost of over ₹78 crore, the road connects Damra in Assam to Bajengdoba in Meghalaya, cutting the journey from 1.5 hours to just 45 minutes.

Started in 2020, the road's construction faced delays but is now finished, promising a smoother, pothole-free experience for motorists. This development is particularly beneficial for residents of North Garo Hills (NGH), who will experience a more efficient connection to Assam. The reduced travel time is expected to improve daily commutes and lower transportation costs for goods, contributing to economic growth in the region.

This new route is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in Northeast India, aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting the local economy. Better transportation links could also increase tourism by making it easier for visitors to explore the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The completion of this road highlights a broader effort to address the region's infrastructure needs, fostering progress and improving the quality of life for residents. The new road between Damra and Bajengdoba is a significant step in this ongoing process.
