In a surprising twist, Paris, the iconic city of love, has been dethroned as the most romantic destination in the world. A recent Talker Research and Funjet Vacations survey among 2,000 Americans revealed that Maui, Hawaii, has captured the hearts of couples seeking a romantic getaway.
While Paris remains a popular choice for many, Maui's allure appears stronger, garnering 34 per cent of the votes compared to Paris' 33 per cent. The survey also shed light on other preferences of American couples regarding romantic vacations.
Most respondents (69 per cent) preferred smaller, less-known destinations over larger cities. They found these hidden gems more conducive to creating an intimate atmosphere and fostering deeper connections.
The survey also revealed that vacations can indeed ignite romance. Nearly 70 per cent of participants admitted to being more romantic on vacation than in their daily lives. Romantic gestures like walking on the beach, watching sunsets, and holding hands were common among couples who vacationed together.
For many couples, a vacation together is a significant step in their relationship. Three-quarters of respondents considered it a serious commitment, while 72 per cent found spontaneous couple vacations particularly exciting.
