With a vision to boost pilgrimage tourism, Kerala Tourism is expected to launch a series of microsites soon. As per reports, these microsites are carefully made not only to highlight the state's rich heritage but also to underscore the significance of its key religious sites. One microsite of particular interest spotlights the iconic Sabarimala shrine and is designed to cater to a diverse audience, offering content in Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. Located in the Pathanamthitta district, this microsite dedicated to the hill shrine aspires to become a comprehensive resource for the annual influx of pilgrims who undertake arduous treks to reach the Ayyappa temple.

The state government's primary mission is to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience, ensuring smoother and more organized journeys for travellers. The revamped microsite not only provides in-depth information about travel routes but also offers valuable insights into available transportation options and nearby lodging facilities.

Furthermore, these microsites will serve as a source for the latest updates on Sabarimala darshan, shedding light on the distinctive features of the hill shrine and its deeply rooted cultural traditions. To support these initiatives, the Kerala Tourism Department has reportedly allocated a substantial sum of INR 61.36 lakh for the development and maintenance of the Sabarimala microsite, following necessary approvals from the relevant working group.

In addition, Kerala Tourism is gearing up to introduce another microsite with a focus on the state's Islamic traditions, festivals, art forms, and places of worship. This initiative is part of a broader digital project, reportedly with a budget of INR 93.81 lakh, aimed at promoting and supporting pilgrimage tourism within the state.

Kerala Tourism has previously launched similar packages and initiatives dedicated to the state's Hindu, Jewish, and Christian places of worship, all of which have been well-received.
