There are a lot of literary festivals and events in India, both big and small. The seventh edition of the Kerala Literature Festival, considered one of the most popular literary events in the subcontinent, is all set to take off from January 11 to 14, 2023, in Kozhikode.
In 2023, the festival saw a significant footfall of attendees. Following that success, the 2024 edition is set to be a grand affair featuring Nobel laureates, Booker Prize winners, literary luminaries, media personalities, and celebrities. The festival is being organised by DC Kizhakemuri Foundation and co-promoted by DC Books, with Prof. K Satchidanandan as the festival director.
Kozhikode, named the "City of Literature" by the Unesco Creative Cities Network (UCCN), will be the venue of choice. The event will take place over four days across six different locations on the Kozhikode beach in Kerala. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event, which will have over 400 global speakers.
Turkey will be the guest country of honour at the Kerala Literature Festival. Other participating countries include Japan, Spain, France, The UK, Wales, USA, and Malaysia. The initial lineup of speakers includes Shashi Tharoor, Piyush Pandey, Prahlad Kakkar, Arundhati Roy, Mallika Sarabhai, Catherine Ann Jones, Monika Halan, Durjoy Dutta, Manu S Pillai, William Dalrymple, Gurucharan Das, Mani Shankar Aiyer.
The best minds from the world of literature and culture will come together for this four-day literary fiesta. From writers, artists and intellectuals to celebrities and activists, the event will see a group of interesting personalities engage in stimulating discussions, as well as theatrical and musical performances.
There will be musical performances by TM Krishna and Vikku Vinayakram, and a Surbahar and Sitar concert by Padmabhushan Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee.
