If you are itching to see Japan’s cherry blossom season or travel the length and breadth of the country during their Golden Week holidays then here’s some good news for you.
The country has introduced an e-Visa system for Indian tourists hoping to travel to “the Land of the Rising Sun.” Beginning April 1 applicants can submit their forms and documents at the visa centres managed by VFS Global. If successful they will be granted an e-Visa for 90 days as a tourist.
Travellers will no longer have to carry a physical visa document but will have to furnish a “visa issuance notice” on their mobile phone upon arrival in Japan. Internet access will be necessary during this process as printed copies, photos and screenshots will not constitute a valid proof.
Citizens of Brazil, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America can also avail of this new system.
