This year, at the helm of the G20 group, India has left no stone unturned in preparations for the G20 Summit in New Delhi. From deploying surveillance drones over the national capital to adorning underpasses with vibrant murals, the country is ready to host leaders from the Group of 20 major economies.

Enhanced Security And Preparations

India's commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure summit is evident in its extensive preparations. Drones surveil the skies, providing an extra layer of security. The cityscape is transformed by colourful murals beneath underpasses, adding an artistic touch to the event. Even the capital's playful monkeys have been kept at bay through the strategic use of oversized langur cutouts.

In terms of hospitality, hotels are all geared up to welcome the many dignitaries. "We would like our guests to have the best experience with our specially curated cuisine," a representative from The Shangri-La Eros Hotel said. "Tamra is the epitome of the 'world on your platter' concept where Shangri-La celebrates the year of Millets in India and showcases wellness cuisine amongst other regional Indian specialities."

Key Leaders and Their Accommodations

As the summit unfolds, a host of world leaders will convene in New Delhi, each with their unique perspectives and priorities. "As the capital's iconic landmark hotel that has had the honour of being host to numerous delegations from across the world for over four decades, Taj Palace, New Delhi, is excited to host visiting international and diplomatic delegations during the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit," said Nayan Seth, General Manager of Taj Palace, New Delhi.

"From ceremonial rituals to timeless traditions, the hotel will showcase the magic of 'Tajness' through many experiences. Guest delegates will be welcomed with a ceremonial ritual at the hotel's iconic lobby that spotlights Indian culture and hospitality, the essence of Atithi Devo Bhava. Exquisite floral décor in kaleidoscopic hues will create the perfect setting for a grand welcome, and from fragrance to music–the experience will be sensorial. Handcrafted in-room amenities, bespoke menus and rituals such as a peacock-themed lamp lighting ritual in the lobby at sunset will echo the warmth of our award-winning hospitality," he added.

Here is a list of the top hotels in the city and who's staying in them.

Shangri La Hotel

ITC Maurya: US President Joe Biden, a central figure at the summit, will be accommodated at the prestigious ITC Maurya. Bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi are on the agenda, with discussions encompassing clean energy transition and climate change. According to sources, stringent security measures will see Secret Service commandos stationed on every hotel floor, and a special lift will facilitate Biden's access to his 14th-floor room. An impressive 400 rooms have been reserved to accommodate the US delegation.

Shangri La Hotel: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak embarks on his first official visit to India and will be hosted at the Shangri La Hotel. In anticipation of the summit, Sunak commended PM Modi's leadership, emphasising India's pivotal role on the global stage.

Taj Palace Hotel: China's delegation, led by Premier Li Qiang, signals President Xi Jinping's absence. This marks the first time a Chinese president has missed a G20 leaders' summit since its inception in 2008. Deliberations in 2020 and 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, saw Xi's virtual attendance. This year, the delegation will reside at Delhi's Taj Hotel.
