Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. It originated in the 17th century during the Maratha Empire, after which it gained widespread popularity in the late 19th century as a cultural and national event, mainly due to the efforts of Lokmanya Tilak. Today, it is celebrated across India with grand idols, vibrant processions, and cultural performances.
