In what is being touted as the world's largest meeting centre, the India International Convention Centre (IICC), YashoBhoomi, will become operational from September 17. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely inaugurate the first phase of the YashoBhoomi in Delhi's Dwarka on Sunday, i.e. Sep 17, coinciding with his birthday.

On the same day, he is also expected to dedicate the Delhi Airport Metro Express line extension from Dwarka Sector 21 to a newly established metro station at Dwarka Sector 25.

What Is YashBhoomi Centre?

The YashoBhoomi Centre, constructed across an expansive area of more than 73,000 square meters for INR 4,400 crore, features 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium, a grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms, with a collective capacity to accommodate 11,000 delegates. Furthermore, the convention centre boasts an extensive 1,07,000 square meter exhibition area, making it touted as the world's most extensive Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) facility.

The plenary hall within YashoBhoomi is equipped to seat approximately 6,000 guests. It will be linked to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line through the inauguration of the new metro station 'Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25'.

About The Delhi Metro Line extension

The new nearly two km-long Delhi Metro line connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to the India International Convention Centre will begin operating on September 17. Passenger services for this extension will commence at 3 PM on the same day. With this addition, the Airport Express Line's total length from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 will be 24.9 km.

Currently, the Airport Line only goes up to Dwarka Sector-21, which also serves as an interchange point with the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro.

Besides serving the convention centre, this new station will offer metro connectivity to residents in Dwarka's sector 25 and the new sectors along the Dwarka Expressway in neighbouring Gurugram. This development will enable these residents to reach central Delhi in approximately 30 minutes.
