The 1.3 km steel arch rail bridge running over the Chenab River, connecting Katra to Banihal, was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Suspended at a staggering height of 359 metres above the riverbed, which is 35 metres higher than Paris' Eiffel Tower, the Chenab River Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district has been hailed as an engineering marvel of its kind and as the world's highest steel arch rail bridge.

With the district also housing the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Trikuta hills, there's immense scope for the bridge to augment tourist footfall in the region and discover its other lesser-known attractions as well.
