Earthling, a pivotal figure in the evolution of psytrance music, will perform an exclusive live set in Kolkata for the first time. Known for his innovative sounds, Earthling is the founder of Zero1 Music and a well-respected music producer and DJ from Ibiza. Since the early 90s, he has been deeply involved in the psychedelic trance scene and has toured extensively worldwide. He has performed at some of the most prominent psychedelic trance festivals, including Ozora, Boom, Universo Parallelo, Hilltop, and VooV. Tanishq Shah, a local artist celebrated for his high-energy sets, will join him. Tanishq blends powerful, progressive, and fast beats to deliver a captivating experience that leaves a lasting impression on audiences. Throughout his journey, he has shared the stage with prominent figures in the industry, such as Jonas Saalbach, Lexer, Yotto, Anyasa, Nils Hoffman, Gheist, Space Motion, Arjun Vagale, Angelov, Denis Horvat, and Nikhil Chinapa.

Headlining the event is the explosive energy of the band Fossils and the genre-bending artistry of Thaikkudam Bridge. This celebration of music promises to transcend boundaries and create unforgettable moments. Kolkata-based Fossils, led by the charismatic Rupam Islam, is known for its signature mix of hard rock and Bengali lyrics. With a focus on socially conscious themes and electrifying performances, Fossils has been a significant force in the Indian rock scene for over two decades. Thaikkudam Bridge, representing the rich diversity of Indian music, is a multi-genre band that skillfully blends rock, classical, folk, and metal influences. Wetlands Walk

The East Kolkata Wetlands are a complex web of natural and human-made wetlands inside a city

Not many people know that Kolkata is home to a wetland—the East Kolkata Wetlands (EKW). Designated as a Ramsar site in 2002, it is situated on the city's eastern outskirts, bordered by Salt Lake township on one side and the new Rajarhat township on the other. Covering an area of 12,500 hectares, the wetlands are characterised by rich foliage and serene water bodies. Kolkata Explorers, a division of Green Step Tourism, is hosting a guided tour of the East Kolkata Wetlands this weekend. Join up to witness the wonders of nature, where the wetlands play a crucial role in naturally purifying the water that flows out of the city.

KG Subramanyan On Santiniketan

Eminent artist, art teacher, designer, writer, and philosopher of art, Kalpathi Ganpathi “KG” Subramanyan is a significant figure in the Indian art scene. Seagull is hosting the opening of "Amader Santiniketan - Drawings by K.G. Subramanyan" on Thursday, November 7. Prof. R. Siva Kumar will inaugurate the exhibition with an informal talk about his experiences in Santiniketan. Born in Kerala, Siva Kumar received his early education in Pune and Kerala before moving to Santiniketan in 1974. He enrolled in Kala Bhavan, where he completed his MFA in the history of art. Since 1981, Professor Siva Kumar, a well-known art historian, has been teaching art history at Kala Bhavana, where he has held various positions. He has dedicated his career to researching the Bengal School of Art, writing extensively, and curating exhibitions that have been displayed worldwide. His work on Abanindranath Tagore and the Santiniketan artists has provided new perspectives and made significant contributions to the reassessment and critical reception of these artists.

The exhibition will be on view until Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.
