The beautiful Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand is now open for all tourists &ndash both from within and outside the state. The valley is located in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve&mdasha UNESCO World Heritage site.
This is the first time that the valley has not opened for tourists on its scheduled time.
If you are thinking of heading out for a trek, carry a coronavirus negative test issued within the past 72 hours before your visit. Failing to do so will mean being quarantined for seven days.
The 38km, 4-day trek starts from Govindghat. You can drive down from Rishikesh to get the start point. The closest airport is Dehradun. The good news is it is open at the moment. You can fly down from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabdad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
The valley is also home to a number of endangered animals such as the Himalayan snow leopard, Himalayan musk deer and other exotic plant species. Usually open from June to October (it remains covered in snow during other months), the valley suffered some loss in tourist inflow this year due to the lockdown.
