The pass, likely to be functional from year end, will come handy for frequent flyers

Corporate and frequent flyer passengers of Etihad Airways can look forward to a special travel solution expected to be implemented from end of this year, which will make chalking out their regular and recurring travel arrangements easy and flexible.

The subscription-based solution, called TravelPass, is being rolled out in collaboration with Norwegian technology developer Braathens IT. After implementation of the travel solution, customers will be able to purchase a TravelPass for a set number of trips or a particular travel period instead of purchasing flights one by one.

&ldquoThe innovative TravelPass technology offers a revolutionary booking experience for corporate and frequent clients who will also be enrolled into our award-winning Etihad Guest frequent flyer programme,&rdquo said Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer, Etihad Aviation Group.

Kamark said the platform will hold the passenger&rsquos details in one place, give them the flexibility to make changes to their bookings without fees, and the choice to pay later.

&ldquoWe know our corporate clients are time-poor and believe this innovative addition to our digital offering will improve the travel journey for subscribers,&rdquo said Kamark.

Subscription-based travel is good news for the aviation industry as it provides customers with the choice between prepaid trips and pay-as-you-fly options, meeting the demands of flexibility, ease of booking and cost-efficient travel management.

The Etihad TravelPass will be available to book on the Etihad website on a desktop or mobile.

Sometime back, Etihad Airways had introduced the AirPass, a travel solution for those travelling to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The AirPass allows passengers to combine their international Etihad flight with up to 10 internal flights. They have to pick the combination of flights that suit them best and book them all in one, simple step. If passengers change their mind about where or when they want to travel, they can make changes to the internal flights quickly and easily for a charge of USD100.
