Here's Where The World's Largest IMAX Screen Is Launching

There&rsquos nothing quite like a pop quiz to kick start a Monday. If the answer to more than one of the above is a yes, then hold on to that popcorn tub tight IMAX has recently announced the launch of its biggest screen till date--it is in Germany. 

In 2020, IMAX Corporation will launch the world&rsquos largest IMAX screen along with a German Independent cinema operator, Lochmann Filmtheatrebetriebe. The new screen--said to have an estimated screen size of 38 metres--will be an addition to the existing Traumpalast Leonberg multiplex in Leonberg.

It will also have a new laser experience with a 4k laser projection system--in other words, the films you will see here will have higher resolution, sharper and brighter pictures, and the &lsquowidest range of colors available to filmmakers&rsquo, as per the official press release. In addition, a 12-channel sound technology will be part of this new launch, for an even more immersive experience.

At the moment, the largest IMAX screen currently is in Australia with a screen 32 metres wide and 23 metres high. You can expect to see at least 10 more IMAX screens open up in Germany in the future.
