Feast At A Durga Puja Food Festival At The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat

Starting October 12, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat is holding a seven-day long food festival to celebrate the arrival of Ma Durga in the city

Durga Puja in Kolkata goes hand in hand with camaraderie and feasting. People from all walks of life and faith celebrate the festive cheer above everything else. Keeping in mind that eating out is one of the most popular activities during the festive days, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat is holding a seven-day long food festival, starting October 12, to celebrate the arrival of Ma Durga in the city.

Called Pujor Mahabhoj (the Grand Feast), the elaborately designed food festival will be held at Seasonal Tastes, the all-day dining restaurant of The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat. The menu will feature an eclectic array of regional cuisines, starters and desserts. In keeping with the Pujo spirit, the menu lists everything from popular street food to traditional dishes.

The street food menu has &lsquoKathi rolls&rsquo, &lsquoJhal Muri&rsquo, &lsquoChurmur&rsquo, &lsquoAloo Kabuli&rsquo, &lsquoPhuchka&rsquo, &lsquoGhughni&rsquo and typical Kolkata &lsquochop&rsquo and &lsquocutlet&rsquo. &nbspSo take your pick from the vegetarian &lsquoMochar Chop&rsquo to non-vegetarian &lsquoMachher chop&rsquo or &lsquoChingrir chop&rsquo. 

The lunch and dinner buffet include Kolkata&rsquos traditional favourites such as the &lsquoKolkata Biryani&rsquo, &lsquoKosha Mangsho&rsquo, &lsquoDhokar Dalna&rsquo, &lsquoChhanar Kalia&rsquo, and &lsquoDoi Murgi&rsquo.

Bengali meals are incomplete without &lsquoMaach&rsquo, and keeping that in mind, the menu lists fish-based dishes such as &lsquoMachher Paturi&rsquo, &lsquoMachher Jhal&rsquo and &lsquoSorse Machh&rsquo, prepared from popular fish varieties like &lsquoRui&rsquo, &lsquoPabda&rsquo, &lsquoChittol&rsquo, &lsquoKatla&rsquo, &lsquoBagda&rsquo and &lsquoGolda Chingri&rsquo.

Alongside the Bengali menu, try out a few Mughlai favourites such as &lsquoChicken Chaap&rsquo, &lsquoGosht Rezala&rsquo, &lsquoMughlai Paratha&rsquo and &lsquoMurg Handi&rsquo.

Bengal is known for its sweets. No meal is complete without them. Some of the desserts on the mene are &lsquoChhena Jalebi&rsquo, &lsquoKheer Kadombo&rsquo, &lsquoPantua&rsquo, &lsquoChamcham&rsquo, &lsquoKomala Bhog&rsquo, &lsquoSeetabhog&rsquo, &lsquoRosogolla&rsquo and &lsquoMishti Doi&rsquo. Apart from the specially curated menu, an unlimited beverage package with drinks will also be available.
