What's your idea of a perfect date If you are a bookworm perhaps you would like hanging out together at a bookstore. Well, if you live in Philadelphia, you&rsquore in luck.
The Head And The Hand bookstore, located in Philly&rsquos Fishtown, curates COVID-friendly date nights at a rate of $65 for all of 90 minutes. This is a concept most of us old-souls (Notting Hill fans, we hear you) have pined after for quite a long time.
The experience involves unlimited access to books, bedecks your two-chaired table with candles, and a serving of wine/beer, and offers you a specially-crafted playlist, a copy of one of their books, and a discount on your purchases at the end of the night. Sweet, isn&rsquot it And safe as well
Up until now, the store has hosted quite a number of couples, and plans for expansion are underway.
A distinct feature of the date night is a short-story dispenser. You wave your hands over a machine, and it prints out the story on a receipt.
Moncla, the store&rsquos owner, kickstarted this indoor date-night concept in November due to dwindling sales during the coronavirus crisis. She traces her idea to people&rsquos inclination for curated experiences.
She keeps a spacing of 45 hours between dates which lends her enough time to sanitise the place.
The revenue generated via this programme sustains the store.
The idea seems to be a hit. According to their website, they are reserved for the coming months, and have added new slots to the programme.
We'd love to see something like this in India too.
