On Wednesday, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) requested travellers from outside Gujarat remain in home quarantine for seven days upon arrival. The sudden rise in coronavirus cases led the SMC and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC)  to suspend intercity public bus transportation services to discourage people from leaving their homes. Visitors from other states should isolate themselves and avoid contact with any other members of the house for a period of 7 days.

Medical health officer, Dr. Umrigar also mentioned that whenever individuals experience any Coronavirus-related symptoms, they must be tested for the infection. Apart from this, the AMC has announced, all parks, gardens, libraries, including Kankaria Lakefront and the Kamla Nehru Zoo in, private-run and public gymnasiums, sports clubs, and other public recreation facilities will be closed until further notice.

Educational institutions, including schools and colleges will have switched to online mode, while allowing institutions where exams are still being held to complete the remaining papers before transitioning to online classes.

The Sabarmati Riverfront will remain closed to the public, including Usmanpura Garden, Riverfront Park near Subhash Bridge, Flower Park near Ellis Bridge, Children's Park near Dafnala, and Biodiversity Park near Ambedkar Bridge.

Ignorance and carelessness will lead to charges under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Act.

According to Manoj Agrawal, President of the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTTA), their business will suffer as a result of the latest SMC notification and it will be impossible for them to follow such protocols.

Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara have been put under the supervision of 4 senior state secretaries to take measures to control the virus's spread and allow vaccination centers to stay open until 9pm to meet the renewed target of inoculating 3 lakh people daily.
