After experiencing a year devoid of tourists owing to the global pandemic, Spiti Valley is getting ready to travel enthusiasts from February 17, 2021.
In September last year, the Spiti Tourism Society had announced that they valley will be shutting borders. The decision to reopen has been taken keeping in mind the development of the vaccine being carried out in India.
A set of instructions and guidelines have to be followed if you are travelling to Spiti. The guidelines stated under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) list is only functional for the winter months and will be revised and updated in April. Here are the most important ones
Tourists have to ensure that they are carrying a valid RAT/RT-PCR test report, and have taken the test 72-96 hours prior to entering the valley. The tour operator will be held responsible for ensuring this.
Tourists are prohibited from visiting the Khibber village and wildlife habitat as the village has refused to host anyone during the winter months.
For individuals who are travelling to Spiti independently, it is essential to take a rapid COVID test at the government hospital.
Social distancing norms and wearing a mask when outside the hotel/homestay room is mandatory for all.
Spiti Tourism Society has joined hands with the entire community at Spiti to ensure a safe stay for the travellers, while the local coordinating and vigilance committees will be taking care that all SOPs are maintained.
