SpiceJet Launches 62 Domestic and International Flights

OT Staff

SpiceJet just announced the launch of 62 new flights on October 20, 2020. These include 58 domestic and 4 international flights.

The international flights have been started to Muscat, the capital city of Oman. They will run from Delhi and Ahmedabad to Muscat, and back.

This development comes after Oman became the 16th country India to form an air bubble agreement with India as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. Indian families living in Oman predominantly hail from Gujarat. This is the reason why flights to Muscat have been connected to Ahmedabad, the seat of the main international airport of the state.

The 58 domestic flights come in lieu of the efforts to revive the domestic airline industry as well as ease travel within the country.

These flights will offer direct connections between several major cities that usually see high air traffic like Delhi-Mangalore, Kochi-Kolkata, Mumbai-Hyderabad, Pune-Chennai, and so on.

All these flights would be on either Boeing 737 or Bombardier Q400 aircrafts. The announcement came from the Chief Commercial officers of SpiceJet, Shilpa Bhatia.

India is bringing back its air travel by easing travel restrictions as it advances further into Unlock Phase 5 and the focus shifts on reviving the worst hit that the economy has seen since the 1999 global recession.

India now has air bubble agreements with 18 countries with Ukraine and Bangladesh being the latest additions as a part of its Vande Bharat Mission. Discussions are underway to open India&rsquos borders to a wider range of countries as well as improve on the present domestic air connectivity.
