SpiceJet just launched 21 new domestic and international flights, aimed at increasing connectivity between metropolitan cities and non-metros, and catering to business travellers as well as leisure travellers.
SpiceJet intends to start services from January 12, 2021.
On the domestic front, there are non-stop daily flights connecting Hyderabad to Vishakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Vijayawada. A few among the new flights to be introduced, will be connecting Jharsuguda in Odisha to the cities of Mumbai and Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata as well.
A B737 aircraft will be operating instead of the Q400 aircraft on the Delhi-Jharsuguda route.
SpiceJet is the first airline service to connect Jharsuguda with metro locations.
An addition to the schedule are flights on the Mumbai-Porbandar, Bengaluru-Belgavi, Kolkata-Kochi and Kochi-Delhi sectors.
While the frequency of Delhi-Jalandhar-Delhi sector has been modified to daily. A third frequency is expected to be added to the Delhi-Dharamshala-Delhi sector. While an international flight connecting Mumbai to Ras Al-Khaimah will be started on a two-weekly basis from mid-January.
The already existing flight connecting Delhi to Ras Al-Khaimah will be upgraded to four flights a week.
The introduction of new flights on more diverse routes is a step towards strengthening the aviation sector and boosting air travel.
