Senior Citizens Travelled For Free On Delhi Buses On World Senior Citizen Day

On October 1, the Delhi Transport Corporation provided free travel to elderly on its buses

As the world celebrated World Senior Citizen Day, India too joined in and introduced facilities for the elderly. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) provided free travelling facility to the elderly in its buses on the occasion of Senior Citizen Day on October 1.

To avail this particular facility, a senior citizen was required to produce statuary documents. This could include any of the following passport, school certificate, driving license, pension book, radiological report, birth certificate, PAN card or Aadhaar card to the bus. 

Earlier,  the government had announced that the formal rolling out of common mobility card scheme and the multi-functional transport app has been delayed due to a "tussle" between the transport minister and the department's top officer.

Furthermore, the Delhi government had also approved a proposal for procuring an additional 500 low floor buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
