Puducherry To Host International Yoga Festival From Today

Continuing an almost 30-year-old tradition, the Puducherry Tourism Department is organising a four-day-long yoga festival this year too. This marks the 27th edition of the festival, which has been organised every year in the coastal territory since 1992. The International Yoga Festival is being organised at the Sri Jayaram Thirumana Nilayam Sithankudi in Puducherry and will see nearly 1,000 delegates and yoga experts descend here from different parts of the country.  

Aimed at the development of the conscious process at physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, the programme consists of discourse/workshop on various topics on Yoga, Yogasana Competitions for various age groups of both men and women, lecture demonstrations and cultural programmes from 5th to 7th January. The valedictory and prize distribution function will be held at Gandhi Thidal, Beach Road, Puducherry on 7th January in the evening.

People from all walks of life, across different age groups can sign up for the event on the official website and pick up their registration kit at the venue. However, as per pandemic-induced protocols, the state government has mandated that all participants above the age of 18 present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate. Several special centres will also be testing the health status of all those who attend the festival.
