Princeton University has a Rare Persian Guide to Demons

Have you ever heard of the demons, genies, and evil spirits that would inhabit the world of ancient occult traditions in Persia You can find them in a pretty rare early 20th century manuscript housed in Princeton University&rsquos Department of Rare Books and Special Collections.

All about magic and astrology, the manuscript from Iran gives you an interesting glimpse into a mystical world with 56 watercolor illustrations of demons and angels.

The Kitab-i Ajaib-i Makhluqat (Wonders of Creation) includes spells with incantation and talismans in Arabic and Farsi from 1911 to 1921. The zodiac demons are menacing yet endearing beasts. Each is related to an ailment. So the book lists ailments and the associated demons. And it tells you how to exorcise them. The fascinating illustrations also include those of angels like Michael and Gabriel who are asked to deal with the demons.
