Mark 15th May as the appointed hour on your calendars as the succeeding King of England prepares to make his revamped establishment, known as Granary Lodge, accessible to the public. Having much more than a dash of royal on the property, you could perhaps already ascertain, without knowing much about the B&ampB that it&rsquos nothing short of imperious. The 10-bedroom development opens out over the fetching North Sea, constructed on the grounds of the Castle of Mey in the distant county of Caithness, Scotland.

The Queen Mother, i.e. Prince Charles grandmother bought the Castle of Mey (as one does), in 1952 and then went about reinstating the dilapidated property to add a smidgen of royal class to it. The estate then became her principal Scottish dwelling until her demise, she did however, before her demise, gift the sprawling residence (with the parklands itself accounting for 30 acres) to The Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust in 1996. Therefore, it is only fitting that her grandson and the president of The Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust undertook another restoration job to bring the estate back to its former glory.

What&rsquos more is that the 10 bedrooms also include two luxury suites, with guests treated to freshly cooked breakfast as part of the stay, all with quality locally sourced ingredients. You wonder what a night will cost you here An affordable 160 pounds or $208.

All profits garnered from the B&ampB will be earmarked towards conserving and operating the estate as a tourist destination in the Scottish highlands. The director of outreach for the Prince&rsquos foundation, Robert Lovie, who oversaw the metamorphosis of the lodge from private royal residence into living quarters fit for the public said, &ldquoOur team has completed a wealth of hard work in recent months&rdquo. &ldquoWe&rsquore pleased with the result, which we hope will encourage people to spend longer in beautiful Caithness, an area so close to the heart of His Royal Highness&rdquo. The Granary Lodge, aptly named, as the building once upon a time was a former granary or storehouse and is located within walking distance to the castle.

If you do find yourself touring Scotland, we propose a quick visit here in order to feel like a royal, even if it may be for a little bit.
