The Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar began on the auspicious occasion of Sankranti, earlier this month, and will continue till April. To add to the context and significance of this grand annual fair, Haridwar is getting an artistic makeover under a campaign run by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority. Mythology-themed graffiti has come up on the town's walls.

The campaign, Paint My City, depicts episodes from Hindu mythology.

Several public spaces in Haridwar, including walls, bridges and buildings, have been painted with episodes from Ramayana, Shiva Purana and other religious Hindu texts. Along with these artistic depictions from mythology, the images of Hindu sages on the walls of Haridwar are reflective of this town being a major attraction for ascetics.
