Domestic Travel in India has Reached a New High, Says Study

According to a recent study, Indian hotels seem to be showing signs of recovery. Based on the check-in data for February, 2021 looks quite promising, says the third edition of the Pulse report published by travel tech company RateGain. 

The report says that hotels in India witnessed the highest check-ins at 24.7K during the 8th week of 2021.

The report says that bookings went up across some key destinations for two consecutive- Week 7 and Week 8.

Goa saw bookings increase by over 20% in February (compared to January).

The cities favoured for romance were Jaipur, Shimla, Mumbai, Pondicherry, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. These saw bookings go up for Valentine's Day period and for weddings.

Udaipur witnessed the highest level of Facebook check-ins and hashtags, states the report.  And Mumbai was at the top due to consistent celebrities and influencers that boost hotel engagement.

The cancellation rate remained at 8% for the month of February, which further implies that many of the purchases had been made for the month were for a trip for a few weeks.

Consequently, more than 92% of travel bookings have not been cancelled.

Despite COVID-19 cases increasing in the country,  Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have seen a high number of check-ins. Pune, Jaipur and New Delhi witnessed a rise through hashtags and reels on Instagram from passengers between the age of 25-40.
