With the holiday season in full swing and the rising number of Covid cases, Goa government has reviewed the situation and decided against imposing a night curfew, as of now.

One of the most sought after destinations in the country during Christmas and New Year, Goa was under the radar amidst rising Covid infections.

Keeping in mind the season's rush and tourism in the state, the government has decided not to impose a night curfew. Ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations in the state, currently hotels are at about 90% capacity, including both domestic and international travellers.

However, in order to keep travellers safe and also keep a check on the number of cases the government will review the situation again.

The government is monitoring the positivity rate and in case of a rise in the number of cases stringent decisions would be taken in the task force meeting to be held on January 3.

This week, Goa reported a surge in the number of Covid cases drawing the attention of the authorities. As per the state&rsquos health department, Goa currently has 535 active Covid cases. With the ongoing pandemic, the tourism dependent state has already suffered losses and is now gradually learning to function businesses with Covid protocols and guidelines in place.
