Navroz Mubarak

It's a day of rejoicing, whole lot of fun with family and food and we are here to do just that. March 21 is observed as the first day of spring according to the Iranian calendar. The auspicious March equinox brings prosperity, it symbolises something new, and for Iranians all over the world, this is an important day. If you are wondering how to celebrate Navroz, just head to any SodaBottleOpenerWala outlets in Delhi/NCR, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. We think the timing couldn't have been any better for it is also SodaBottleOpenerWala's fifth year anniversary. The Bombay-Irani Cafe, already known for its delicious food and drinks, is however celebrating Navroz in a bit fan-friendly way a month long food extravaganza, or as they like to call it Navroz Dronu, a traditional Parsi bhonu. The month-long food extravaganza started on March 15, to last till April 15. So with that in mind, we headed off to SodaBottleOpenerWala in Khan Market, New Delhi. The place never fails to impress us (we are in love with the very-Parsi-decor).
Since it's Navroz special and the house insists that you eat till your buttons pop out, we are here with five items that you must try.
The obvious way to start the celebration Drinks.
Kick-off your special Parsi bhonu with a shot of Wild Parsi Things--fresh pineapple muddled with rum, mint and lime. Things just gets better from the go. Then go for the Bumsuckerwala, one of their signature cocktails. Sipping the vodka, frozen raspberry and thyme goodness in-between meals is just a-wow.
You need something in your belly to give those two lovely drinks some company
The Navroz-special thali comes in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. It's a beautiful mix of simple yet delicious food, with the homemade pickles, papad, chutneys and the must-try Parsi specialities. Here's what we liked the most Chicken Pattice (patty with stuffed juicy minced chicken), Prawns Patio (prawns in thick spicy tomato gravy) and Ragi Rotli, just perfect with the prawn dish. For vegetarians they have the delicious Malai Mawa Nu Paneer and Cheese & Veg Pattice. Keep some space in your happy tummy for their special falooda with chia seeds. Delish
