Mussoorie Is Ready To Welcome The Winterline Carnival This December

A trip to Mussoorie should be on the cards if you&rsquove been searching for the perfect winter holiday plan. The winter season brings many gifts of nature, and the winterline phenomenon is one of them&ndashit is when a false horizon is formed at dusk caused by the refraction of light. The breathtaking view can only be witnessed from certain mountainous regions around the world, such as in Switzerland and back home in quaint Mussoorie, parts of Mizoram prominently. 

After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Winterline Festival is set to make a comeback in Mussoorie from 25th to 30th December this year. The festival celebrates Uttarakhand&rsquos local culture as much as it does nature. Several events showcasing traditional Garhwali dance, local folk music and art are included in the plan. Tourists can even pick up unique souvenirs from the many stalls set up by locals and gorge on delightful local dishes. 

Apart from that, the organisers have planned many games and other activities, including stargazing, puppet shows, nature and heritage walks, and campfire nights to complete your dreamy holiday to the hills. 

The venues have yet to be officially announced, but the most popular spot is the thronged Mall Road, located in the heart of Mussoorie. You can marvel at the beautiful views of the Doon Valley from here, while also indulging in some retail and food therapy&ndasha must-visit place is the tiny but famed Cambridge Book Depot, also known to be Ruskin Bond&rsquos most frequented spot. 

Winter in Mussoorie is not for the weak. It can get extremely cold at night, with the temperature dropping to even 1&degC or lower. During the day, it ranges from 7&degC to 15&degC. Therefore, you would need a little more than a light jacket to keep you warm. Do ensure to carry sufficient warm clothing for your trip. 

Although the Winterline Festival brings forth the best of everything Mussoorie offers, you can never run out of things to see and do around here. If you&rsquove got a few extra days to spend in the hill station, head to Dhanaulti and Lal Tibba for picturesque scenery and the Kellogg Memorial Church for some serenity.
