OT Staff

If you happen to a major art fanatic traveling to the Empire City in the next few months, then this news might play spoilsport to your plans. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, aka a paradise for art aficionados. is scheduled to be closed for the entire summer between June 15 and October 20 due to renovations which will see more than 40,000 square feet of gallery space added. The MoMA will reopen on October 21 after going through major scale development.

The four-month period will be used to create a new experience of observing art in the museum. With plans to re-energise and expand upon its founding beliefs, the MoMA in its growth will attempt to bring forth underrepresented artists. Works of women, Latinos, Asians, and African-Americans will be on display next to those of Picasso and Van Gogh. Juxtaposing paintings, sculptures, architecture, design, films, mix media, among others are all set to add another dimension to experience of MoMA.

In an attempt to add to its diversity and richness, artworks on show at the MoMA will be rotated every six to nine months among its different galleries to bring about a constantly evolving experience. There will be an expansion of museum hours and the launch of new museum store post its renovation. &nbspSo, not all bad, huh
