Mizoram is Getting a FIFA Certified Football Ground

Most people from the Northeast states have long been known for beingr 'football crazy'. And now they have a big reason to celebrate.

Mizoram is all set to get its first FIFA certified football ground. 

The ground is being constructed at Kolasib town near the Assam border by Sports Authority of India&rsquos (SAI) sports academy. The artificial turf being applied on the ground is certified by FIFA.

Royte, who had been to site for construction inspection, was also accompanied by supply minister and Kolasib MLA K Lalrinliana and Serlui MLA Lalrinsanga Ralte. 

Besides football, three other sports disciplines would be practiced at the newly constructed field. In order to boost tourism and promote sports facility the government is also mulling over reviving the construction of a tourist lodge at Kawnpuia where another football facility pre-existed.
