The Ministry of Tourism recently launched Audio Odigos, an audio guide facility for 12 historical sites in the country. The audio guide offers Government of India verified content, with visuals and voice over support for the benefit of the tourists. &ldquoWith Audio Odigos, tourists will now enjoy a more enriching experience and take back historical insights of the Indian culture and heritage,&rdquo said Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism.

The Audio Odigos app contains an inbuilt map of the site for a smooth navigation during the tour. The listeners will also be offered various versions of history like synopsis, detailed history and podcasts. The users have an option to choose the audio in their preferred language. Audio Odigos is now available for download on all Android and iOS supported mobile phones.

The 12 sites in India include Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Purana Quila and Humayun&rsquos Tomb (New Delhi), Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal (Uttar Pradesh), Somnath and Dholavira (Gujarat), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).

Meenakshi Sharma, DG, Tourism said that the app is the outcome of the MoU signed with Resbird Technologies last year under which they have developed the audio guide app. Resbird Technologies under &lsquoAdopt a Heritage&rsquo project of the Government of India developed &lsquoAudio Odigos&rsquo which offers audio guided tours. The content for the app has been curated by renowned historian Rana Safvi.
