Shop at Platform no.1, New Delhi Railway Station

Amit Dixit

Journeys end in travellers buying souvenirs. Rarely does a journey begin with a relic. Or two. But if you&rsquore chugging out of New Delhi Railway Station anytime soon, do stop by the brand new &mdash but thoroughly quaint &mdash &rsquoSouvenir Shoppe&rsquo on Platform 1 (that&rsquos the Paharganj side). Beaming staff, eager to close a sale, peddle a long train of rail memorabilia &mdash from mugs sporting old rail company logos to loco replicas that can&rsquot wait to have pride of place on your mantelpiece to colouring pads for young trainspotters and paperweights that&rsquoll look steaming good on any desk. I picked up this South Indian Railway mug (Rs 100) for a railway child but the jolly little paperweight (only Rs 60) is all mine.
