The House Floats of Mardi Gras

OT Staff

This year, the coronavirus put a halt to perhaps the most famous parade in America. We are talkig about the annual Mardi Gras of New Orleans. There were no parade organisers (called 'krewes'), artists and engineers, dance troupes or marching clubs, and those amazing Mardi Gras floats.

But New Orleans wasn&rsquot going to let go of a giant party. So instead of mobile parade floats, residents came up with the idea of house floats. The Krewe of House Floats was born with the tagline - &ldquoIt&rsquos Mardi Gras but for houses, so you don&rsquot get sick&rdquo Some said instead of Mardi Gras, it was Yardi Gras this year (as yards were decorated and put up as floats).
