The pandemic blues are really upon us. And it shows, and how

Being at home for such a long time has been a first for everyone. And now, when things have started to look up again, travelling and travel-related searches have been showing a certain pattern and trend.

In their recent reports, Airbnb has focused on a particular type of property search that has topped the charts. People have been looking for longer stays, around 20 days, and wanting to stay connected to work online. The concept of &lsquoLive anywhere and work' is gaining ground. Solo travellers, families, digital nomads and others, everyone seems to be looking for breaks from the four walls of their house.

Among the top criteria for choosing places to stay in and work from (according to Airbnb searches) are strong Internet connectivity, hygiene, properties closer to nature, and offbeat destinations.

Airbnb&rsquos data shows that over 20 per cent of all searches within the last three-month period in India have been for long-term stays (more than 28 nights) at one particular property. This shows that with access to technology, and with companies shifting to remote work mode, people are willing to relocate to new accommodation for months at a time.

Well, we can surely say that workations are a legit trend now. That's something we at Outlook Traveller have been saying for a while now. And that scenario blurs the line between living and travel.

In the past 90 days, 45 per cent of searches by travellers were for treehouses. Searches for staying at rural farms and camps follow at close heels at 41 per cent and 34 per cent respectively.

Goa, Lonavla, Shimla, Darjeeling and other short-drive getaways remain at the top of the list. With winters approaching families are also gearing up for winter holiday plans. As India forms travel bubbles with various countries like UK, Germany, France, Italy, Thailand, UAE and others, destinations are also opening up newer holiday or workation prospects.
