Good things happen when the hunter becomes the protector. The fourth edition of Pakke Paga Festival (January 18-20, 2019) is a unique festival celebrating the sense of responsibility and commendable effort of the Nyishi community towards the conservation of hornbill. The three-day festival is the only festival in the state dedicated to conservation of nature. The fact that Arunachal Pradesh is one of the richest biodiversity hotspot in India is not new to anyone, but did you know that here in Arunachal you could adopt a hornbill nest and be an integral part of their conservation Hornbill Nest Adoption Programme, a Nature Conservaton Foundation initiative in collaboration with the state Forest Department and the Ghora Aabhe Self Help Society, is the reason why we have this festival in the first place. As per the adoption programme, one can sponsor/adopt a hornbill nest which will be regularly monitored and protected by the dedicated members of the Ghora Aabhe Society, a local body of village elders.
